ABOUT US


Our Mission Statement:  "The Greater Central Ohio Junior Golf Association seeks to promote and teach the game of golf to young men and women, while instilling positive values that may be used on and off the golf course throughout their lives".

Our Objectives:
-  Make golf available to juniors of all ages, regardless of gender or social status
-  Provide professional instruction in the skills of the game of golf, teach acceptable golf etiquette and a respect for and adherence to the rules of the game
-  Encourage healthy competition for all juniors within their skill and age level 
-  Create an association for young men and women that will form lifelong values and friendships
-  Involve the adult community in such a way as to link the generations while providing positive role models.

The Greater Central Ohio Junior Golf Association proudly announces its 23rd season.  It is open to all juniors age 6-18 years of age.  The GCOJGA plays tournament golf.  The only requirements being some golf experience; instruction, range practice, course play, and knowledge of the game.

If you want to improve your golf game, meet new friends, win some trophies, learn more about the game, and most of all, have fun, join the Greater Central Ohio Junior Golf Assocation and experience playing a variety of golf courses in the Central Ohio area.

The cost to join the association is $65 for the first junior and $45 for each additional Junior.

We offer 3 Divisions from which the Juniors may choose.  However, there are some restrictions based on age and ability.  Each Division is described below:

Player Series (36-hole events)
This Series is our most advanced and competitive division with the intent to bring the area's finest players together.  This Series is nationally recognized and posted on the Junior Golf Scoreboard.  To participate in this Series, you must have a golf coach or golf professional sign the registration form.  Competition is within gender and age groups:  13-15 and 16-18.  A point system will be used to determine Players-of-the-Year.  A junior who is 18 years of age on the date of the first tournament may continue to play event though he/she may turn 19 during the season.  In April/May, play will be on Saturday/Sunday and June/July play will be on Monday/Tuesday.  The $125 entry fee for each event covers the green fee and lunch.

Tournament Series (18-hole events)
This Series is for preparing Middle School team members or those preparing to make a golf team.  Competition is within gender and age groups:  12-13, 14-15, and 16-18.  A golf professional or golf coach must sign the registration form and attest that your average golf score is 100 or better.  If you do not have a professional or coach, please contact us to have your form signed.  A point system will be used to determine Players-of-the-Year.  A junior who is 18 years of age on the date of the first tournament may continue to play event though he/she may turn 19 during the season.  In April/May, play will be on Saturdays and June/July play will be on Mondays.  The $65 entry fee for each event covers the green fee and lunch.

Crotes Division (9-hole events)
This Division is for juniors developing the fundamentals, awareness and appreciation of golf.  They will play in 9-hole events according to their gender and age:  6-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15.  Ages 6-10 play special tees, 11-12 play red tees, and 13-15 play white tees.  All play is on Mondays starting in June.  The $45 entry fee for each event covers the green fee and lunch.

Players-of-the-Year
The GCOJGA annually awards Players-of-the-Year after the conclusion of the season.  There are a total of 4 awarded, one male and one female in each of the Player and Tournament Series.  Each tournament awards points depending on the position where each player finished.  The points are tabulated those with the highest total for the year receive this honor.
